If you told 2001 "Fiesta fiesta" R.Kelly that the best thing he'll ever do in his career is write and perform an R&B soap opera, he probably would've dumped Cristal (well, hopefully just Cristal) on you. But there is no doubt in our minds that Trapped in the Closet is his greatest contribution to mankind. With IFC premiering new chapters every night, we're recapping each and every one, so you can keep up with the madness.
On Tuesday night, Rufus and Cathy went to Dr. Perry (played by R.Kelly of course) for some couples counseling. Just in case you missed it, Dr. Perry's wall includes a picture of himself, a masters from the University of Illinois, and a framed photo of he and Bill Clinton. Okay, back to the session. Look, they both have some issues - Rufus, a prominent pastor, has a gay lover, and Cathy had a man trapped in her closet - so this never had a chance of ending calmly. Cathy wants to get right down to it, Rufus just wants sparkling water. Gosh, Rufus, dial back the diva-ness a little! As per usual, Cathy ends up getting quite emotional over the state of her life and marriage and all that stuff about how her husband might be a gay reverend. Rufus apologizes and apologizes but really, all the woman wants to know is if he's still gayballs for Chuck. And well, his emotional emphatic answer isn't quite the one she wanted to hear. But dang, that boy can sing!
Watch the chapter below, and stay tuned for more recaps.
New chapters of Trapped in the Closet premiere every weeknight on IFC at 8 PM.
