We weren't the biggest fans of unabashed pop star Sky Ferreira's debut album, Night Time, My Time
. Through our lens, we see Sky as a Capitol Records gimmick whose anti-pop image has been perfectly sculpted to attract an angsty fan base. Let us not forget that her music is quite uninspiring. From her outspoken, indie scene boyfriend (Zachary Cole Smith of DIIV), to her gratuitous album cover tit
, her hype seems to surround being callously cool. But, we have to give Capitol some credit, as her dismal records are selling and she's built herself a defensive fan base—many of whom went off on our writer's review. Sky has also recently been cast as Miley Cyrus' co-star on a massive North American tour along with craptastic Swedish duo Icona Pop.
But Sky's latest music video for her album's title track might finally clear the fog for the undecided listeners. In "Night Time, My Time" the singer tries her damnedest to channel Fiona Apple's sullied seduction, but comes off more like a comedic parody of herself. She flexes between colored wigs as she writhes in an an assortment of ill-fitting lingerie, all while taking herself way too seriously. The video's message is as torturous as the plot of a Nicolas Winding Refn plot. We dare you to enjoy the video below:
