Last evening approximately 1/10th of the population of Iceland squeezed on to the stage at Terminal 5, greeted warmly by a giddy contingency - all foot stomps, sing-a-longs, and hands in the air - of New Yorkers ready to throw their arms around the rather dapper looking visitors from the land of fire and ice. Of Monsters and Men, one of the year's massive breakouts, brought the celebratory brand of heart-on-your-sleeve folk anthems from their debut My Head Is An Animal for a sold-out, two night stand here in the city, inviting friend and countrywoman Soley (of Seabear fame) along to warm up the crowd. The show provided a rather electric atmosphere...the pre-holiday crowd seemed as if they had been waiting patiently for both band's return to our fair city for the first time since April. Through general pouncing, arms stretched towards the heavens, and even a few classic shoulder riders we managed to snap a few photos. Both Of Monsters and Men and Soley will be doing it all over again this evening. If you have tickets, well...good for you. Enjoy yourself. If you don't, it might be the perfect opportunity to pony up and treat yourself to a pre-Thanksgiving appetizer of some of the best music 2012 has had to offer.
