Back in September cinematic pop band, Milo Greene
, announced their sophomore album entitled Control
, and since this announcement they've been bombarding us with singles that give us a taste of their new sound. Very new, especially compared to the soothing folky vibes of their debut.
Having already released the '80s inspired, "On the Fence" and synthy, "White Lies" Milo Greene has furthered their descent into the synth-driven pop hole with their latest single, "Lie To Me". The frantic/cathartic arrangement of the track (due largely to their use of synth) feels a lot like trying to fall asleep after a large cup of coffee.
Coming from a band who initially charmed us with their unique signature of switching instruments and lead vocals, this sound change has channeled their musicianship into uncharted waters, which we're still getting used to. While the first three singles from Control
have strayed far from the "Americana dream pop" we fell in love with, we're looking forward to hearing the rest of Control
and will be keeping an ear out for traces of Milo Greene's past sound.
Check out "Lie to Me" and then compare it to our session with them at The Wythe Hotel :
