Canadian punks Sonic Avenues have released their first single for their upcoming sophomore album, Television Youth, set to be released on 1/15 through Dirtnap Records. The song, "Television Youth," is sheer garage punk joy.

The band's mix of over-driven guitars, rapid fire beats, and melodies that marry singing and yelling come together to form a propulsive track that will warrant repeat listens (or else). The angsty lyrics of being disillusioned by society are typical punk rock fare, ("We're the lost generation / television youth / intellectual destruction is coming out on you") but it doesn't matter. In a genre where methods have been tried and used to the point of cliche, Sonic Avenues find a way to make them sound original and make you remember why you loved this kind of music in the first place.
