In case you missed it, yesterday over a decade of waiting came to fruition when the space probe Rosetta launched it's explorer Philae, who semi-successfully landed on a comet. If you don't quite understand the importance of this, let me contextualize it for you. This mission is a decade in the works, and that comet has been floating through outer space since somewhere around the conception of the galaxy. We stand to learn a lot about the origins of our planet, and the origins of life in general.

In honor of 2014's long-awaited landing 10 years in the making, we've compiled a list of 10 of the best space-centric music videos of 2014. To infinity, and beyond...

1. José González — "Every Age"
Joseé González and The Eyes in Space Collective sent a camera into space, the result is actual footage from beyond the clouds.

2. Pharrell Williams — "Gust of Wind" ft. Daft Punk
Not exactly set in outer space, but certainly extra-terrestrial, this autumnal video prods at alien conspiracy theory as ancient ruins of the Daft Punks restart their alien engines.

3. Shabazz Palaces — "Motion Sickness"
Getting high means very different things to this LA mother, who dreams of stardom, and her daughter, who just dreams of the stars in Shabazz Palace's soft celestial rap.

4. Generationals — "Gold Silver Diamond"
Cloaked in cardboard cutout silliness, this video captures a truth of tragedy no amount of intentionally poor special effects can deflate.

5. Weezer — "Back To The Shack"
Weezer puts on some space suits, and heads to to the moon in order to apologize for fuckin' up. One small step for Weezer, one giant leap for fan-kind.

6. Snowmine — "Glide"
A psych pop journey through low res space in this animated intergalactic adventure from Snowmine.

7. We Are Scientists @mdash; "Make It Easy"
We Are Scientists travel to a very orange alien planet in their "Make It Easy" music video. Be ware the ominous vortex.

8. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart — "Until The Sun Explodes"
This brightly animated video features a Scooby-Doo like interpretation of the band in heart-shaped death star, one guess where it's headed...

9. Joachim Garraud — "Everybody"
Of course Joachim Garraud and Perry Farrell rescue the girl and save the Universe. Who else could?

10. Needtobreathe — "Difference Maker"
Needtobreathe offers a moody ode to human achievement with the video for "Difference Maker."
