re-entered the mainstream musical consciousness last year with their epic homage to an epoch Random Access Memories
. The award winning record featured Pharrell Williams, Giorgio Moroder, and Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, among others. "Instant Crush," the bizarrely uncomfortable new wave track that was borne of the collaborative effort, apparently is not the only offspring of the coupling.
In a recent interview on Revolt TV
with Casablancas' other band (The Voidz), he revealed that he can't wait for Daft Punk to release the other song they worked on together. According to him, if you thought "Instant Crush" was weird, strap the fuck in for this one. He teased the release with this compelling description: "It's cool, weird." Julian Casablancas and the world's strangest cyborg masked marauders made something and it's weird? Well, shit... To be fair he's more generous with details that "weird," stating that "It's like a song that just goes up. It's like four half-steps up, moving as that on cycle, on repeat. And it's super bizarre. And it sounds like jazz modern weird. It's weirder than any song on the record that I know of."
