we can still talk about change, right?

So I know it's been a week since that gooey, good feeling overtook most of the world in the wake of the American election. But honestly...shouldn't all the giddy, hope-mongering and serene sense of satisfaction a lot folks are feeling these days made way for some good, old fashion American cynicism by now? Shouldn't something have happened to instill a bit of doom and gloom by now? I mean, it's been a week people...

Except, I think it's going to take more than a week. I think it's going to take more than the time between now and the inauguration. I think it's going to take more than Obama's first 100 days (I'm not prepared to go any further than that) before the rash of permi-grin going around slowly gives way to something more closely resembling semi-grin.

If in the event you're one of the few who has let the good times pass you by...If you woke up last Thursday morning forgetting how you felt Wednesday Morning...If you voted for the other guy...Well, soulful Wisconsin singer-songwriter Cory Chisel's got your back. His on-point rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come" should aid in once again allowing the tiny spark of possibility to ignite in your heart. Pithy plumes of piano, a basic strumming pattern, and Cory's fervent vocal performance all make this live recording from the Lawrence Memorial Chapel in Chisel's hometown of Appleton a rather spellbound, listening experience. Pick up the free MP3 below. - David Pitz
