Nothing makes us music lovers happier than seeing our favorite musicians getting officially recognized for making awesome music. Artists work most of their lives perfecting their crafts, and when they win it's like we win also. It's a confirmation of our great taste, and even though a systematic voting process and a formal induction ceremony doesn't scream, "RAAAAAAWR! ROCK!" the Rock and Roll Hall of fame knows whassup with the 2015 list of nominees which includes the likes of Green Day
, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
, Lou Reed
, and Sting
as well as 10 other worthy contenders.
Wondering what qualifies an artist for one of the coveted spots? They must have released their first recording at least 25 years ago. That means 1989, the year whenNine Inch Nails
and Green Day both released their first EPs.
Cool beans, that takes care of the quantitative qualifiers, but how can you measure musical influence? Well, that's where we come in (in addition to other industry experts). Head on over to the rock and roll hall of fame website
or Rolling Stone
to cast your vote for your favorite artist. The five artists with the most votes will make up the fans' ballot.
The inductees will be announced later this year and the ceremony will take place in April 2015.
