If the gigantic voice that powers our latest set from The Good Music Club sounds familiar, you can probably thank your guilty obsession with NBC's The Voice. Nakia, the Alabama-raised, Austin-based singer featured here, breezed through several rounds of the inaugural competition, finding himself on the brink of the finals. Though he didn't win, the experience obviously opened doors for the aspiring musician. Reading through a list of collaborators Nakia's worked with, names like Cee Lo Green and Lamont Dozier jump out of the credits, and for good reason. Nakia's got obvious talent. When his voice meets elements of Southern blues, Motown soul, and Chicago funk, the result is music that's extremely gratifying, music that'll instantly carry you away to the pleasure zone. We knew we'd discover incredible new tunes when we signed up for The Good Music Club, but this is just ridiculous.
