Brooklyn based super musician
Cale Parks is a busy guy. When he's not drumming for the likes of
Aloha and
White Williams, he's been overseeing every step of production for the November 4th release of his sophomore solo album,
Sparklace.
Recorded in his own home,
Sparklace fixes cold, computerized electronica beats underneath the warm and enveloping baritone of Cale's vocal reverb. The result is a little more on the
Dntel side of the spectrum than say,
Boards of Canada, drawing focus to the palpitating synapses of a micro-chip. In turn, the ambient landscape is minimal rather than grandiose; intricate rather than lush. The end result is a poppy, pulsing synchronicity that's both melodically appetent and charmingly upbeat. Pretty good for a guy with three different music projects going on.
Be sure to catch Cale Parks live if you're lucky enough to live near one of the towns he'll be performing in prior to the record release (and a few after). For a guy as busy as Cale, it'd be a good idea to make time for him while you can.
