Jimi Hendrix wisely sang "And so castles made of sand fall in the sea eventually," and it seems that the fate of castles made of crystal isn't all that different. After a decade making music together, Toronto duo Crystal Castles have met their demise.
In a string of tweets released in the wee hours of the morning, singer Alice Glass announced that she was leaving the group, "My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others." she explained. "For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC."
However, just because Glass is leaving the group, doesn't mean she doesn't intend to continue make music for the loyal following Crystal Castles accrued over the years. Glass's final tweet reads, "Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles."
Goodbye Crystal Castles. Even though you've now vanished, we'll miss you dearly.
