As fans, we tend not to see our favorite musicians as having their own lives. We know them through lyrics, album covers, and concerts. It's hard to imagine Fat Mike going grocery shopping or Mark Hoppus changing a diaper, but that is what the new documentary "The Other F Word"
tries to show us. The film follows some of punk's biggest names around as they adapt to a new stage in their lives: fatherhood. Flea
, Mark Hoppus
, Lars Frederiksen (Rancid
), Jim Lindberg (Pennywise
), Fat Mike, and others all show how they reconcile being a punk and a father.
I've been listening to NOFX
since I ten years old. White Trash, Two Heebs, and a Bean
was one of the first albums I ever bought. But in all my years of listening to the SoCal punks rock power chords, I knew very little about them. They liked to have a good time, hated George W. Bush, and sang about lesbianism. Other than that, I really didn't know much about these musicians, and I certainly didn't know anything about their families. This movie certainly promises to fill in the blanks. Color me intrigued.
"The Other F Word" opens this fall, but you can check out the trailer below.
