Let's keep the week of Levon Helm going!

The Deschutes River Conservancy have conjured up a group of artists to cover river songs, for the river. Fitting idea, right?

So, here we have the second contribution: Blitzen Trappers's Eric Earley covering The Band's "Up On Cripple Creek". It's hard to top the original, but Earley's cover is actually pretty good. The whole video is relaxed, with Earley just chilling by the river and playing some music, so in other words, he's keepin' it pretty real by The Band's standards. Earley puts his own edge on the song, singing a little slower than Levon does. He also cleverly uses a harmonica in place of Garth Hudson's funky clavinette riffs.
