There are a dozen or so members in Portland band Typhoon
and they sound like it. Their sound is cacophonous, takes unexpected turns, ducking and covering under playful vocal cadences, rallies surprising syncopated rhythms, rises, falls, not to mention pulls all strings right out of the listener's heart with singer Kyle Morton's blasts of ultra-personal storytelling. The band's most recent album White Lighter
is a favorite around these parts (might be the best record of the Fall). So then is NPR latest tiny Desk Concert, starring the amicable band of musicians.
