  • Petty and Surprise Friends Hit Webster Hall
What do you get when you unite a Sweet Relief charity event, a Jameson sponsor, and a set list consisting of only Tom Petty Songs? Petty Fest 2012, of course. At Webster Hall on Wednesday night, The Cabin Down Below Band backed up a roster of fabulously talented musicians who each took turns rocking out to Petty's most popular tunes.

Although Petty is indeed still alive, the turnout suggested his songs, never really went out of style. Nicole Atkins warmed up the crowd with a rendition of "Mary Jane's Last Dance" accompanied by Nick Zinner and Josh Lattanzi.

After that, an adorable Cyndi Lauper took the stage with Sammy James Jr. to perform "Here Comes My Girl." Her surprise appearance hyped up the crowd. Although the crowded stage was constantly shuffling around, the sound did not suffer.

Father John Misty took a short-lived hiatus from his show at the Bowery to come out with a bottle of Jameson in one hand and a mic in the other to belt out "Learning to Fly." Caleb Followill, Delta Spirit, Adam Green, Alia Shawkat, Steve Schiltz, and Albert Hammond Jr. were among the night's prominent list of performers. The impeccable energy from The Cabin Down Below made for a fantastic evening at Webster Hall, marking the second Petty Fest successful.

The CDB will also be holding a Dylan Fest and Stones Fest for the Sweet Relief Charity. All proceeds go towards financially supporting musicians who are striving to pay their bills in the midst of hardships inflicted by any health issues.
