If you took a track off of Father John Misty
's I Love You, Honeybear
and had Lana Del Rey sing it, it would end up sounding a lot like Natalie Mering, the artist behind Weyes Blood
. This lo-fi folk track, "Do You Need My Love," is off of her fourth album Front Row Seat To Earth,
which recently dropped last week via Mexican Summer, co-produced by Chris Cohen. Her sound is interesting and contains a mixture of several different things, like the west coast, the 70s, and, weirdly, outer space. The lo-fi quality makes it sound distant sonically, yet the use of piano and acoustic instruments gives it an endearing, raw intimacy.
