A few weeks ago, legendary Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox gave an interview within which she questioned the authenticity behind Beyoncé's now notorious "Feminist" VMA performance. Lennox suggested that it did not come from a place that was necessarily completely genuine and empowering from a feminist perspective, going so far as to call the performance "Feminist-lite"
Prompted by backlash regarding her comments, Lennox has recently come forward to set the record straight, explaining that her quote was taken out of context, and construed in a way that she did not intend;"It came across as if I was slighting Beyoncé,. that was not the case, not the intention whatsoever. I commend her." Lennox went on,"I think she is a sublime performer, artist. I think there's no one can touch her."
