Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding have done it again: unleashed another mediocre electro power ballad into the airwaves. Goulding's already airy soprano pushes Harris' brand of electro-epics just a tinge too far into the rave pop clouds.

Their last collaboration, 2013's "I Need Your Love," had a more fitting home on Goulding's record Halcyon. Her pop sensibilities tend to float a little closer to the ethereal rave clouds. As ethereal epic rave pop goes, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding are the reigning champions, but but Harris is at his best with a little bit more vocal texture to score. His best Top 100 collaborations happen when he's parallel toFlorence Welch's guttural force, or Rihanna's breathy, firmly grounded, lower altitudes.

"Outside," which features Goulding, is off of Harris' forthcoming album Motion. The new album is set to include collaborations with artists a little further off the pop charts, like Alesso, and HAIM. Listen to "Outside" below, and check out our acoustic Baeble Session with Ellie Goulding for a more terrestrial side of the high altitude vocalist.

Pre-order Motion on iTunes, due for release on Halloween.
