Punky quintet
Mika Miko, just a few months after their frantic, action packed LP hit shelves, have thrown in the metaphorical music-towel, according to
Pop And Hiss, the
L.A. Times music blog.
This comes as a surprise, the article notes, due to the international success of such
Smell colleagues as
Health and
No Age (the three bands are all staples of the
Smell venue in L.A.). Whether or not
We Be Xuxa has the potential to follow in their footsteps, we won't be totally sure. The girls say the breakup is amicable, citing a bunch of young adult life factors that need their attention, relationships, school, and the obligatory actually making money at a regular job. But no hard feelings!
"There's no bad blood at all, we're all still really good friends" said guitarist Michelle Suarez. "We've just been a band since high school and all of us are ready to move onto different things. We started the band for fun and wanted to end on a positive note." [via Pop And Hiss]
The band is planning a farewell show sometime in the near future, and will still appear at
Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin.
We Be Xuxa is still out on PPM. -
