Momma's Boys Pillage The Bowery

Menomena brought a war call of thunderous, lock step percussive rhythms, filthy, funked-out cuts of saxophone, and a dog fight of synths and fuzzy guitars to the Bowery Ballroom last week. Oh, and their hair looked good too; full and thick, with a perfect sheen...like these battle weary, Indie Vikings descended from Valhalla to pillage our eardrums with blood thirsty cuts from their surprisingly still intact collection of new songs dubbed Moms (Remember, they lost key member Brent Knopf to his proggy, indie pop outfit, Ramona Falls in the run up). Of course, Menomena hail from Portland OR; an altogether different variety of heaven. But seriously, if Erik the Red (or Adrian Peterson?) had a hankering for some indie rock (and who's to say Peterson doesn't?), these momma's boys would be at the top of his list.
