New Music Video: The Gangbang

The ramshackle collection of Childish Gambino, Adele, and Chief Stockton (also known as The Gangbang) have done it again with "Close Enough", this time around featuring DC rapper Wale. Footage traces the four artists as they go about daily tasks: for Childish that would be shooting a fashion spread and giving an interview, for Adele, recording and smoking, Chief Stockton, performing, and Wale, sitting in a tree with his girl looking at national monuments.

Watching the video is like viewing a silent film reel set to music—black and white, artfully grainy, and at certain moments, terribly sad and potently intimate, a description befitting the song. While punctuated by sardonic rhymes from the three rappers, Adele's contribution to the chorus as she roars "I won't let you close enough to hurt me" mirrors the general thesis: wronged romance brings hurt and disappointment, which can't continually be boarded up. It needs an outlet, and here that escape lies in a crucial pop song.

You can stream The Gangbang's free EP at their Soundcloud. Sweetly enough, the three put together a mix for your next power hour (it's just too easy), also available for download.
