In less than two weeks, we'll be hosting our annual CMJ Music Marathon showcase The Launch Pad
at Spike Hill in Brooklyn. Sorting through the massive CMJ lineup to plan your own excursions can be a daunting and highly stressful process. To save you the trouble, and quite frankly, to save your lives (stress kills!), we've compiled a group of 12 diverse acts into Friday (10/18) and Saturday (10/19) nights. Neither CMJ badge nor bucks are required to get into our party.
To get you acclimated to our divine lineup, we'll be introducing two acts per day leading all the way up to our first Friday performance. Today, we present to you two of Friday evening's performers, Flagship and Duologue.
Friday, October 18th - 7PM
North Carolina's folk rock band Flagship is kicking off Friday night with unique southern charm. Their self-titled debut came out this week and is full of energy, emotion and frontman Drake Margolnick's vocal transformations. The five-piece band worked with producer Ben Allen on their latest album, who has also produced music for Washed Out, Animal Collective and Bombay Bicycle Club. The group has been compared to bands like The National and Boxer Rebellion, and we're sure they're going to set the night off on a charged up tone.

Following Flagship, are experimental U.K. group Duologue, whose songs blend between electronica, rock, and dubstep, with Tim Digby-Bell's Yorke-like vocals tying it all together. With multiple string instruments and heavy electronic beats, Duologue isn't afraid to max out all the different sounds, thereby creating a unique auditory experience. Their debut album, Song and Dance
came out at the beginning of 2013 through Killing Moon Records, and we're curious to see what new material the band's been working on.
