One of our favorite young artists, Lelia Broussard, from our SXSW 2011 showcase, has earned a slot on The Voice this season. This is beginning to look like a tried and true path for Baeble artists, as last seasons' runner up was Juliet Simms, who did a session with us way back in September 2010. Check out the video if you want to hear stories of baby wipes and The Warped Tour...not to mention hear her stunning vocals while chewing gum.
OK. Now, back to Lelia.
We can't wait to see Lelia perform on the show. She is on Team Blake Shelton and we will of course be rooting for her. However, Lelia seems a little like a serial dater looking for the rich guy in the crowd at this point. We first ran into her as part of Rolling Stone's "Choose the Cover" competition and now she is on The Voice.

Is a career strategy built on swinging for the fences in competitions a way to build a lasting connection with your audience? We think it is a great way to reach large numbers of folks. The risk in particular with Lelia is that if she doesn't go deep into this competition she will be branded a serial wannabe looking for a shortcut. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
Check out her blind audition for the show below...
And her rather rollicking, performance at our SXSW Showcase in 2011.
