Foals Shred On Colbert

Foals' Yannis Philippakis is one of the most intense frontmen in alt rock today. We had the chance to catch Foals live last month, and one of our favorite photos of the evening involved Yannis diving from the second floor balcony of Terminal 5. If you've never been to Terminal 5...that's an impressive feat. And last night Foals brought that tenacious energy to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for a performance of "Mountain At My Gates."

A thing that we don't get to really talk about in indie rock these days is shreddage except maybe in the context of Baroness. But Foals shred their way through the propulsive guitar rock of the track, and Yannis Philippakis probably did some damage to his vocal cords roaring his way through the song. Based on this performance and our review of their live show, Foals remain one of the top tier straight up rock bands working today. Check out our old school session with the band below.
