Night Beds really started as two lonely Colorado Springs students in need of something larger, but took its sweet time evolving into the project it is today. Matt Wilcox invited Winston Yellen to record in his apartment in 2006, some years later the pair would write their first song together as Night Beds. Many adventures later, driving through deserts and prairies and coastal highways, the pair settled in Nashville, where Steadfast Records will release their first LP, Country Sleep. No, this film will not be appearing at Sundance.
Their description of the tunes, "like something emergent from a tunnel," is terrifyingly accurate. The melodies carry like specs of lights bursting out of dark patches, like a fire slowly kindling to a blaze and back down to nothing.
See what we mean-- here's a track off the upcoming album.
