  • MP3: I Am Noxious
Sometimes you hear a song and it's love at first sound. Can you remember the first time you heard "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem? For every millenial out there, it was the most danceable encapsulation of your life that ever existed. From that opening piano intro and throughout the entirety of Sound of Silver, you knew you were listening to your generation's anthemic LP. It's far too early to put Danish electronic rock artist I Am Noxious in the same league as the nearly deified James Murphy, but damn, if these two tracks from I Am Noxious don't have the potential to knock you on your ass with their brilliant pop/rock sensibilities to make not one but two of the best tracks I've heard this year.

That little ditty above was I Am Noxious's cover of Black Eyed Pea's superhit, "I've Gotta Feeling." I haven't preferred a cover version of a song to the original this much since Smash Mouth redid "I'm a Believer" (did I just lose all of my street cred there?). He slows it down and filters it through all of the best textures and sound effects that make acts like Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem so instantly remarkable. I tried to physically restrain myself from doing awkward dancing in my chair while writing this piece and listening to these tracks, and to say I failed would be an understatement. [Ed. Note: It's true.]

The track below is his original track "Stranded On Love" which manages to be even more impressive. It's starts out more mellow than his Black Eyed Peas cover, but it picks up until this song attains an almost zeitgeist quality to it. Here is a genuine diamond in the rough.
