| The Shins continue to dominate our B-Blog, but we offer no apologies. Wincing the Night Away debuted at number two on the Billboard Charts last week, selling over 100,000 units despite the albums leak in Fall 2006. This is a huge score for an indie band, and we are happy for them, writes Rolling Stone. Right on. And theres more. As reported by Billboard, some record stores celebrated the release of Wincing the Night Away with a tradition close to many music fans hearts: the midnight sale. Internet leaks have caused such sales to wane in recent years, as fans have realized its simply easier to download an album months in advance. In this lazy age, who wants to wait outside a store on a cold Monday night? But the Shins release convinced more than a few record stores to keep their doors open late, with places like Grimeys (located in Nashville) making over $2,000 in just one hour.
