Wavves, the Southern Californian punk duo lead by stoner-riffer Nathan Williams, has got a new clunker out called "Demon To Lean On", from his band's forthcoming new album Afraid of Heights. Here it is:
I'm sure we'll be told the record is a very big deal at some point, so we let the stream rip a few times and can, without a doubt, definitely say, we are so not excited for this album...like at all. But people are though! Amazingly!
Deadsovls: "Sounding good already Fuk."
SymphathyRockets is "Really Impressed with this guys!"
Zoeyji declares, "AAyyyyYEEE".
Nick Bottom: "Whoa, it reminds me so much of Nirvana."
Oh, and our favorite, courtesy of Kevin Frayne. "Man fuck you...the main riff of the verse is exactly like my new song :- /"
1. This does not sound anything like Nirvana. This sounds like Nirvana.
2. Some poor sap out there has a song that sounds exactly like "Demon To Lean On'. Oh boy....
Our take is, the song churns the kind of pedestrian grunge that shouldn't make it past the floppy haired, teenage skate rat crowd of Nathan Williams' home town...and perhaps that's precisely who is commenting on the track. But we're not very stoked. In fact, the whole jam is perfectly summed up by the very sentiment flailing through the song. "Holding A Gun To My Head". We feel you Nathan... It might be a better alternative to listening this. "No fun at all/Not at all at all at all at all!" Testify Nathan!
If by chance you disagree, Afraid of Heights will be out March 26th via Mom+Pop.
