came to Brooklyn's Bell House on January 26 (we were there, filming!) to celebrate the release of their Sup Pop debut, Teen Dream
. The Baltimore-based duo, comprised of Alex Scally
and Victoria Legrand
, was eager to share their new material with the 100 people who managed to nab tickets to the sold-out show, along with a handful of press, and various family and friends.
The pair mostly stuck to songs from Teen Dream, but managed to include a few older tunes such as "Gila" and "Heart of Chambers" from 2008's Devotion (Carpark). While the crowd was pleased to hear their old favorites, it was obvious the band was ready to move on as Legrand joked about being tired of playing such tired tunes
Legrand and Scally seemed comfortable playing at the low-key Gowanus venue, surrounded by dedicated fans that had been coming to their shows since they released their eponymous debut back in 2006. They playfully took questions from audience members in between songs and laughed about the white "fur trees" adorning the stage, which looked like something from a Dr. Seuss book. As they neared the end of their set, they encouraged the audience to stick around for the dance party that would begin as soon as they finished. - Lyndsey Matthews
