"I said god damn! God damn...God Damn"
Alright, Mr. West. We've officially woken up
. I spent all of Friday waiting for Kanye West's latest G.O.O.D. Friday track to drop in advance of SWISH
on 2/11. It never came...til today, but better later than never, cause god damn, this track is pure fire. It was inevitable, but we've finally got the Kendrick Lamar/Yeezy collaboration for which we've been clamoring for years now, and it's better than we'd hoped it would be.
On the first G.O.O.D. Friday track, "Real Friends,"
Kanye shared a teaser of "No More Parties In L.A." and it sounded like it had potential, and spoiler alert, it lives up to it. These are some of Kanye's best rhymes in years (even if it's a bit of a given that Kendrick was going to walk away with the track at this point). This is a Kanye we haven't heard in years...a Kanye whose spot on the top of the hip-hop world is threatened and he's got something to prove. There's an urgency to Kanye's bars that have been missing. He's defiant and hungry, and then Kendrick shows up, and we're eternally grateful to have to the two most important figures in contemporary hip-hop on the same track.
