Show Review

A DJ, feature vocalist, and collaborator with the likes of Chairlift, Lykke Li, and 12th Planet, KLP (aka Kristy Lee Peters) is going solo, preparing to release her debut EP, Revolution. "Tropical" is the first sunny little gem to prick our ears and it's as equatorial as its title suggests. With flickers of marimba, punched-up brass accents, and a sweaty/sultry kind of chorus, KLP's new single will have you on island time in no time. The video for the tune, which we're premiering here, presents the perfect, seaside outing, captured in soft focus and muted pastel colors. All in all, "Tropical" will have you longing for summer, if and when it ever decides to show.

KLP's Revolution Remixed will be released on Chookie on 14th May, featuring remixes by DCUP, Saarid, The Revenge and James Curd.

For our Australian friends who would like to catch KLP, here are some details about her show this week.

Thursday May 9th, 8pm
Goodgod, Sydney
With Moonbase Commander, Charlie Chux and Stu Turner

Having built up a rep over the past two years as a respected DJ and guest vocalist, KLP (aka Kristy Lee Peters) presents her debut EP, Revolution, her first outing as an artist proper. Her writing talent and singing skills have been combined with the fine co-production skills from DCUP, Cassian and Stu Turner on the tracks Revolution, Tropical, Hands and Roll With It.

KLP has collaborated and sung for various international producers and award-winning artists including Pnau, Dcup, The Coconut Wireless, Tonight Only and Adam Bozetto. She's featured on or co-written no less than 20 tracks scheduled for release this year.

KLP has also worked with the likes of Chairlift, Lykke Li, 12th Planet and Gina Turner in her role as a key facilitator for Heaps Decent, the local initiative that facilitates music workshops around NSW for underprivileged kids.

With a solo EP out in the coming months (through Chookie), Lee is one to watch out for.
