Film composer, singer/songwriter, and all around awesome guy Keegan DeWitt
has just released a new music video for his new song "Colour." The video is simple enough. Five guys in white t-shirts and blue jeans playing music in what appears to be an empty warehouse of some sort. The camera circles the band, letting us know the barren geography of the space that is only occupied by music. It isn't exactly ground-breaking visually, but the music fills in the gaps. The video is helped along by the driving bass lines and dancey drum beat of his backing band. Sprinkled in on top of the rhythm section are a fun synth line and jumpy palm-muted guitars. Every now and then, the guitars are given the opportunity to explore their sonic spectrum, giving the track a warmer and more well-rounded tone. DeWitt's melody is the glue holding the song together, making it come alive, and most importantly, making it fun.
Keegan DeWitt premiered his new song "Colour" as a free MP3 download on RCRD LBL earlier this week. The "poppy sonic assault" can also now be downloaded and shared here. "Colour" is available on a free download card that comes with the purchase of the new limited edition tour sampler DeWitt is selling exclusively on his current tour with Madi Diaz. The sampler additionally includes new song "Wishing Well," as well as two tracks from his summer 2010 EP Nothing Shows and his December Two Hearts/Reluctance single, and "Thunder Clatter," released as a free download around his dates on the Daytrotter Barnstormer 4 tour in late April.
DeWitt who has caught the attention of Paste ('10 Best New Solo Artists of 2010'), American Songwriter, AOL Music's Spinner, Popmatters, My Old Kentucky Blog, and his hometown Nashville Scene, among others over the past year is three dates in to the summer tour with Diaz, playing tonight at Solar Culture Gallery in Tucson, AZ. The tour will continue through September 2nd and includes a show at the Hotel Caf in Los Angeles, CA on August 25th. DeWitt and his band will also play an in-store at Origami Vinyl in Los Angeles on August 24th, as well as the finale of the Daytrotter Barnstormer 5 Tour at Codfish Hollow Barn in Maquoketa, IL, on September 3rd.
DeWitt and Diaz will head back out on the road in late September and hit cities throughout the north- and southeast, including an October 3rd show at the Mercury Lounge in New York, NY (tickets go on sale tomorrow, August 19th). He'll also perform at the ASCAP showcase in New York on October 19th during the CMJ Music Marathon.
