Dave East and A$AP Ferg run a bank caper in "Paper Chasin."
When it comes to East coast hip hop, MC Dave East is as true as they come. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, the rapper spent most of his time on the basketball courts of his East Harlem home and the Ravenswood housing project of neighboring Borough, Queens.
Basketball was a pivotal part of Easts upbringing. Playing with the likes of Kevin Durant and Mike Beasley, he built a reputation for his clout on the courts around the city and eventually at his alma mater, Townson University, in Maryland.
When East wasnt on the courts, his love of music became increasingly apparent. Inspired by acts like Styles P, Jadakiss, Camron, Notorious B.I.G., and Big Pun, he had an ear for the East coast voices that laid the foundation not only for the culture of hip hop, but for the city that raised him. Eventually, East was determined to do the same.
After releasing a few projects of his own and gaining recognition around the city, East got the call of a lifetime from none other than his favorite rapper Nas. It was Easts mixtape Black Rose that caught Nass ear, but it was his undeniable talent and New York flavor that led him to sign East to his very own Mass Appeal Records in 2014.
After two years with Mass Appeal, he added Def Jam Recordings to his musical resume. Signing just after releasing his critically acclaimed project Kairi Chanel in 2016, he set the tone for the crucial 2017 ahead and his much anticipated debut LP on Def Jam Recordings.
