WATERS' "Mickey Mantle" is a tempered tune, catchy and full of lyrics with consequence. The song contemplates aging (illusion, disillusion,and what it is to be "not too young"). Waters' usual jagged guitar pop sound is ravaged and all that is left is the bare bones balladesque tune that is "Micky Mantle." The new music video reflects the repetition of life, and the slow act of aging inward and outward, by depicting band member Van Pierszalowski getting up (next to a spinning globe) and ready in the morning...in stop motion.
