It might be easy to imagine a ludicrous day in the life of The Hives
-- Sweden's most famous garage rock revivalists -- running amok in your town wearing their trademark matching black-and-white suits, or cruising at 10,000 feet in their Hives-themed zeppelin, kicking over mic stands and donning top hats like some weird, contradictory hell-raising gentlemen. But the Hives aren't ones for convention, as evidenced by the actual day we spent with them. We decided to follow the band for an entire day, starting with an interview with Sirius XM.
First the band stopped by "The Handsome Dick Manitoba Radio Program" on Little Steven Van Zandt's Underground Garage channel
, on Sirius XM Radio to discuss the supposed death of rock and roll, the band's unbelievable notoriety, and their excitement for their new LP, Lex Hives
. Then we toured around town with the band in their van, unfortunately not in the official Hives zeppelin, but it got the job done.
Finally we followed the band to MakerBot
Brooklyn, where they had miniature plastic busts of themselves created from scratch. We filmed the analysis and creation and crafted it into a beautiful time lapse segment which took over three days to complete. Big thank you to the gang at MakerBot. Check out the Thingiverse Page they made specifically for the band
