Young Love - 2.28.2007 at The Bowery Ballroom

bio show review discography photo gallery tour dates fans links

Dance-rock outfit Young Love is headed by Dan Keyes, who fronted the post-grunge band Recover from 2001-2004. After releasing three albums with that previous band, Keyes moved from Texas to New York City in search of a change. Within months, the singer/songwriter had amassed a number of slick, stylish songs that had more in common with Bloc Party and The Killers than the aggressive sounds of Recover. Young Love was born, and a record deal with Island Def Jam surfaced before the end of 2005.

Young Love tested their new material at Manhattan clubs in the summer of 2006, and dates opening for Head Automatica followed in August. Following the success of the Discotech EP, the band releases its full-length debut, Too Young to Fight It, in January 2007.

Young Love - Too Young to Fight It

It's only been a month since BaebleMusic last caught up with Young Love. Still, this young band has found time to age gracefully and potently in just thirty days. Their songs are tighter, their stage show flashier, their onstage banter more relaxed. This is a band in the middle of an upward climb, and Young Love is making all the right moves.

If you're a fan of Young Love's Sun Factory video, be sure to check out the way that Dan Keyes and company handle a larger venue. The Bowery Ballroom's crowd is dominated by paying customers and rabid fans as opposed to industry execs, and Young Love deliver.

"Take it or leave it," you say? We'll take it. In fact, we'll take seconds.
