Eric Ray - engrossed in a world of boundless imagination inspired by the masters of Fantastic Art and illuminated by the work of elven goddesses Dagmar Krause, Kate Bush and Alison Krauss - set to the task of illustrating these magical visions through sound. Disheartened by the implications of his gendered voice, he strove to find resonance with his bodiless spirit, his winged agendered form that graces the lands of Forever and Ever.

Christopher Terry, mourning the slow sacrificial butchering of his creative being in offering to the gods of financial solvency, sought salvation through smooth music. Finding solace in its aesthetic, yet troubled by its specious content, his efforts focused on the impossible task of legitimizing privileged White America's travesties of human suffering within its most sacred format: Adult Contemporary.

The couple, sensing their own love tragedy, found sanctuary deep within a tropical cave known to both as the troubled common ground of Mark Hollis and the hissing Soft Wave of early OMD. The two souls intertwined for one last tendering and conceived the unique evolutionary musical oddities that form the endemic ecosystem Enchanted Islands, Beep Beep's disturbingly emasculated masterpiece.

Enchanted Islands is a bewitched fantasia for a mysticized and genetically mutated Galapagos Islands. Beep Beep takes you on a delicate, disjointed voyage in the spirit of Ruiz's Three Crowns of the Sailor where no distinction is made between the real and the impossible, a voyage anchored only by the inherent truths of human desire and despair. The Journey is equivalent to a night's worth of vivid dreaming where time is out of place and every location makes sense only within its own context. Abrupt transitions through eras and settings leave the first-person narrative undaunted as the newly defined roles are exactly understood the moment these new adventures begin.

For Eric Ray and Chris Terry, it is a journey illuminated by the clash of willful escapism with the looming inevitability of "adult" choices. Together, they craft a hidden realm where they are free to roam as their majestic selves unencumbered by the contingencies of the American Dream. For them, Enchanted Islands exists as an exotic snow globe allowing them to peer into the window of their taxidermied essence, preserved in its most magnificent form. Beep Beep resides evermore in this sacred place and Enchanted Islands is your invitation. Hello children...

Watching Beep Beep storm their way through an imaginative set at Saddle Creek's '09 SXSW showcase, one gets the idea that this Omaha based band don't really give a damn what their audience thinks of them. This of course is a good thing, as their brave and bold demeanor gives this wiley-eyed outfit the freedom to express themselves in snazzy fits of flailing, oft-kilter pop. Over the course of this concert, Beep Beep see saw back and forth between moments of order, and whirlwind breakdowns that are more chaotic then tornado alley in a summer storm. Add to that a few flashy stage moves, a flamboyant wit between tunes, and the red hot heat of an Austin Texas atmosphere, and Beep Beep's SXSW performance is a unique and devilish enterprise indeed. - David Pitz
