Show Review

Uh-oh! Guess what day it is? Guess. What. Day. It. Is. Anybody? It's hump day. Which is obviously super exciting for that Geico camel...and even more so for lovers of very fine music. Today's Good Music Wednesday offering throws some seriously heavy and heady vibes your way, showcasing what might be Austin TX's most menacing sounding band, The Wolf. With freaky-fuzz, slow burning rhythms, multiple singers, and shameless sixties style, The Wolf sink four cuts into this performance...a mighty guitar powered live performance we think you'll want to fall victim to.

Artist Bio

It's alive and well in Austin. Psych rock never truly left, actually. The roots here in Texas are particularly deep: 13th Floor Elevators, Vulcan Gas Company, and Shivas Headband are a few standouts. Psych might have experienced a dormancy period, but it returned with a vengeance, slightly reshaped by todays artists from a modern standpoint, but remaining true to the original ragas and drones for the most part. The Wolf is one stand-out example, leaning more toward the garage-rock end of the spectrum. These psych bandidos from hell work the classic vibes on their album Strange Flowers, their first full-length release following their self-titled 2011 EP, with plenty of guitar fuzz and waves of heavy sound engulfing your ears and your mind.
