Show Review

This spring we got the chance to curate the line-up for the 2014 BK Half Marathon Pre Party, sponsored by New Balance. Today we're proud to present our feature footage of Gospels. The quartet hails from Queens, but met us at Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 2 to play us through the sunset. Gospels is more akin to wandering music than jogging music, but the boys sure can inspire. From note one the group dips into a performance trance, and the music hits the mics in a steady stream from front to back. Pensive pop, laid-back grooves, call it what you want, the kids deliver a uniquely unassuming and intensely focused performance. That moment when all the sudden it's dark out, and you can't remember the sun actually setting... yeah, it's like that.

About New York Road Runners' Brooklyn Half Pre Party
For three days leading up to the New York Road Runners' Brooklyn Half on May 17,
runners and their supporters gathered at the brand-new Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge
Park to pick up race materials, get psyched, and had a good time at the Brooklyn
Half Pre-Party presented by New Balance.

There was plenty of energy, including music curated by Baeblemusic, DJ's, and
fitness classes run by New York Health and Racquet Club. Runners got their
participant T-shirts and bibs and enjoyed authentic Brooklyn food, drinks, and
entertainment.

- Thanks.
- Thanks for coming out.
Three just died and only one's left That's not a good way to start it
Take me down to the river I'm cold I just want to feel old
Tell me who to call when it's stolen Cut throat this and tell them then
Take me down to the river I'm cold I just want to feel old
Such a nice what a white fence Such a nice what a white fence
Such a nice what a white fence Such a nice what a white fence
And I've got my defense
Starry eyed squares in my head Go to bed
That's only way to stop it dead Take me down to the river I'm cold
I just want to feel old
Such a nice what a white fence Such a nice what a white fence
Such a nice what a white fence Such a nice what a white fence
And I've got my defense
If I get my soul back somehow I would stop all of my shameful ways
If I get my soul back somehow I would stop all of my shameful ways
- Thank you.
Clap with us.
When you decide
So we like clouds on a dark stormy night
Thunderously collide
She's a solitary road Not a sweet wilderness unrolling
When I sleep inside it's the only echo
The only echo
It's not like we didn't want It's not like we couldn't have
She's a solitary road Not a sweet wilderness unrolling
When I sleep inside it's the only echo
The only echo
Come back to the fall Like back in the good old days
Come back to the fall Like back in the good old days
Come back to the fall When I sleep,
Come back to the fall Like back in the good old days
Come back to the fall In the forest
In the forest
- Thank you.
Haunted you What to do when no one's left
And all your friends to enjoy What to do when no one's left
And all your friends
Take one side and divide that Now react
You never say what's on your mind Until you laugh
Oh your heart and my head Two ships on an ocean
Oh your heart and my head Capsize
Fall until it's noiseless What to do when no one's left
And all your friends
Oh you're just in time And those eyes lie
We're just the same And what you hide
In those eyes
Oh your heart and my head Two ships on an ocean
Oh your heart and my head Capsize
Fall until it's noiseless What to do when no one's left
And all your friends
Take one side and divide that And react
You never say what's on your mind Until you laugh
Oh your heart and my head
Oh your heart and my head
Capsize Fall until
Your heart and my head
- Thank you so much.
Home isn't what it was before
I want to go but not alone
Why did you go I'm as brave
As you are cold
What a cruel joke to give an animal feelings
What a cruel joke to give an animal feelings
There was a time When I could have done anything
Before I adored you And floated towards you
And when I sing it's not for you
Because you are the shark to my overboard
When I float to shore you follow And why when we go solo
The songs the same but I can't hear the notes
What a cruel joke to give an animal feelings
What a cruel joke to give an animal feelings
So you're moving in slow motion at half the speed
Pack your bags and tell your friends it's time to go
You're thinking it's all but lost now Roll up those sleeves
Pack your bags and tell your friends it's time to go
- Thank you.
I go walking in your shoes Speaking in those tongues you use
Must have been a devil in a past life And when the moon comes out
It just wants to know you When it whispers in your ears
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Put into a black hole with a spot Telling us what it was
And what it is We couldn't stop tonight
I go walking in your shoes Speaking in those tongues you use
Must have been a devil in a past life
It just wants to know you When it whispers in your ears
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Put into a black hole with a spot Telling us what it was
And what it is We couldn't stop tonight
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Give me your hand Follow me into the air
Put into a black hole with a spot Telling us what it was
And what it is We couldn't stop tonight
Jumping at the gates When the song is over
You leave for Dover And the white hills over there
But the mark was off And the big gun cost you
A photo of you Underneath the ceiling
So go to reach it Up a ladder at a cost
But the mark was off And the big gun cost you
So are you lost Or falling off
It's like sleepwalking And you were here before
Sleepwalking So when you float along
Sleepwalking I watch you float into the wall
When the door is open Feels broken off
This is the last flood Of a gold rush down a waterfall
And you said it all Before we caught you
And you said it all Before we caught you
So are you lost Or falling off
It's like sleepwalking And you were here before
Sleepwalking So when you float along
Sleepwalking I watch you float into the wall
At night darlin You're sleepwalking
Wake up darlin
At night darlin You're sleepwalking
If I told you there's a ghost In my bed
Would you say it's in my bones Shaking up my head
It's like a house with open windows Someone's in the halls
Dancing around the floors
It's like sleepwalking And you were here before
Sleepwalking So when you float along
Sleepwalking I watch you float into the wall
At night darlin You're sleepwalking
Wake up darlin
At night darlin You're sleepwalking
If I told you there's a ghost In my bed
Would you say it's in my bones Shaking up my head
It's like a house with open windows Someone's in the halls
Dancing around the floors
- Thank you.
Cut into quarters
You're divided up
But your colors are showing Cut into quarters
You're divided up And growing
We will keep it together When the color is glowing
But your colors are showing
Cut into quarters You're divided up
And growing We will keep it together
When the color is glowing
Weekends don't last like they used to
Let's get back that fire You set on me
When I come to meet you
Weekends don't last like they used to Let's get back that fire
You set on me
Don't know what's up your sleeve It's gonna happen soon
Don't know what's up your sleeve It's gonna happen to you
Don't know what's up your sleeve It's gonna happen soon
Don't know what's up your sleeve It's gonna happen to you
When it all boils up and up from the bottom
When it all boils up and up from the bottom
When it all boils up and up from the bottom
Fair warning I'll take what I need
You'll never know I sowed the greed into my coat
I'm in this hotel A love like hell
I'm in this hotel A love like hell
But I hope that I can reach you by the phone
If it's what I need
If I steal your heart and let it go Snowing in a field that you know
But I hope that I can reach you by the phone
If it's what's I need
But it's not what I want
Half past midnight don't bother Coming anymore
I stole the last you outta come around no more
Something when I saw you took a pause And I was better then
Now I steal it all So when you're coming around
It's to start a war When you're coming around
It's to start a war
I stole your sunrise But don't you call it evil
What's your is yours What's mine is mine
I stole your sunrise But don't you call it evil, evil
What's yours is yours What's mine is mine
- Thank you.
