Show Review

Music's greatest power is being able to transport people to another dimension in a matter of seconds. Don't believe me? Try closing your eyes and listening to a smooth acoustic track without feeling as though you're floating through space and time on a fluffy white cloud. You can't, can you? See. Music gets you lost in the moment and takes your mind away from your troubles and insecurities for just long enough to convince you that everything will be alright with a little faith and time

Musicians Samantha Ronson, Pete Nappi, and Ethan Thompson embody this carefree, feel good vibe in each song they create together as Ocean Park Standoff. The group formed in Los Angeles back in 2015 and have had their mind set on spreading happiness and positivity in the form of what they call "aggressively uplifting" music ever since. The alternative-pop trio debuted their talents to the world on their self-titled debut EP which features their hit "Good News," which already has well over 7 million plays on Spotify.

This month alone the trio has played Florida's SunFest, California's Wango Tango, as well as James Corden's The Late Late Show. The group is also set to begin touring at the beginning of June. They even found the time in their busy schedule of making the world a better place one guitar strum at a time to stop by Baeble HQ for a delightful acoustic session. Ocean Park Standoff wouldn't be themselves without leaving a smile on the face of everyone they encounter, including us here at Baeble, so before they left they made sure to leave behind their message and goal as a band. Check out their session in order to obtain Ocean Park Standoff's meaningful insight. (I hear it keeps you young forever, just saying.)

before all else? stand for? Is it Baeble? - Well, it works very well in the modern era because you've got a mix of bae then Baeble.
- And "bll.
" - And "bll.
" - What's up? I'm Pete.
- I'm Ethan.
- I'm Samantha.
And we are - And you're watching Baeble Music.
- Yeah, I moved out to L.
A.
to, you know, do pop music, I produce.
And I started working with Ethan while we were out in L.
A.
He moved out a couple months after I did.
So me and him started working together and then I got set up with Samantha.
- And Samantha was the first one to pull me and Pete out of the writers' circuit and say, "You guys realize that you don't have to do this for other people.
You could do it for yourselves, and you could write the messages you want.
You could make the music you want and put out the things that you want people to hear about you.
" - First song we wrote was Lost Boys, second song we wrote was Good News.
And we just knew we had some thing, so.
Let's take the night off from caring about tomorrow
Let's take our minds off the things we can't control, yeah
Let's take our clothes off and jump into the ocean
Don't know where we're going but it's somewhere out there
We've got our whole lives left To make some memories
Drunk nights that we forget I will remember best
We stole a tricycle And then it all goes black
Handcuffs behind my back Yeah, I remember that
Ooh, we're not gonna grow up
Ooh, 'least not till the sun's up
Let's take the night off from caring about tomorrow
Let's take our minds off the things we can't control, yeah
Let's take our clothes off and jump into the ocean
Don't know where we're going but it's somewhere out there
Let's take the night off from caring about tomorrow
Let's take our minds off the things we can't control, yeah
Let's take our clothes off and jump into the ocean
Don't know where we're going but it's somewhere out there
It's late but no light yet Still time for Juliet
To hear my Romeo Yelled through the window
Ooh, we're not gonna grow up
Ooh, least not 'till the sun's up
Let's take the night off from caring about tomorrow
Let's take our minds off the things we can't control, yeah

Let's take our clothes off and jump into the ocean
Don't know where we're going but it's somewhere out there
Oh, oh, yeah, oh, oh, oh So late it's early now
Watching the moon go down Holding your breath
Let it out Let it out, oh
Let's take the night off from caring about tomorrow
Let's take our minds off the things we can't control, yeah
Let's take our clothes off and jump into the ocean
Don't know where we're going but it's somewhere out there

- Yeah, I like playing acoustically.
I think we like playing it because it brings out different sides of the songs.
But definitely, the way that we play it live is the way that I feel like the songs are supposed to be experienced.
But I like doing the acoustic because it gives people a chance to soak in the lyrics a little bit more than when you're live because live is just about flash, bang, boom, let's have a good time.
- It's definitely more fun when we play full band and watching Pete play the drums.
- Yeah, the shows have been going great.
It's very high-energy.
It's a different energy than I was ever doing for my solo stuff.
We always like to compare it with aggressively uplifting is the term for our music and for the show.
- This summer we're going on tour with Third Eye Blind on the Summer Gods Tour, and we also have Silversun Pickups coming, too.
Our booker just hit us up and said, "Hey, here's a couple things.
What do you want to do?" And we heard Third Eye Blind and immediately we were like, "Let's go on tour with them.
" And we've spent so much time geeking out over all the hits that they had when we were growing up.
And we couldn't be more excited to be going on that tour.
It's going be a blast.
- This is We Do.
We spend our weeks like weekends Nights last for days
Nights last for days Got an appetite and it's feeding
It's not going away
Heading for a disaster Living by the skin of our teeth
Begging faster, faster We don't break, but we bleed
Running red lights Getting out of our minds
We do, we do Pedal to the floor
Screaming out, "We want more!" 'Cause we do, we do
Blinding midnight all the way to sunrise
We do, we do Turn the bass loud
Till the bottles break now We do
Yeah, we do it 'cause it feels good
We fall, but we fly higher Brush the dust away
Brush the dust away We're not sleeping 'cause we ain't tired
Going out in flames
Heading for a disaster Living by the skin of our teeth
Begging faster, faster We don't break, but we bleed
Running red lights Getting out of our minds
We do, we do Pedal to the floor
Screaming out, "We want more!" 'Cause we do, we do
Blinding midnight all the way to sunrise
We do, we do Turn the bass loud
Till the bottles break now We do
Yeah, we do it 'cause it feels good
We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah We do it 'cause it feels good,
yeah We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah
We do it 'cause it feels, do it 'cause it feels good
Legends live forever, but that ain't we
We just follow moments out of your dreams
On the edge of never, falling between All of your maybes are just maybes
Legends live forever, but that ain't we
We just follow moments out of your dreams
On the edge of never, falling between All of your maybes
Away we go Yeah
Running red lights Getting out of our minds
We do, we do Pedal to the floor
Screaming out, "We want more!" 'Cause we do, we do
Blinding midnight all the way to sunrise
We do, we do Turn the bass loud
Till the bottles break now We do
Yeah, we do it 'cause it feels good
We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah We do it 'cause it feels good,
yeah We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah
We do it 'cause it feels, do it 'cause it feels good
We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah We do it 'cause it feels good,
yeah We do it 'cause it feels good, yeah
We do it 'cause it feels, do it 'cause it feels good
- Bucket.
- I feel like Good News is a single because it's the one that resonated most with people.
We really wanted to, at this point, get that message across of, like, looking forward, having hope towards something because there is something that will get you up on your feet and inspire to keep moving and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
And we just want to kind of keep getting that message to people so people don't get so dark and down because life is overwhelming.
But if you focus on the light, it grows.
No, this is not a test Never was, never will be, yeah
You can take my best It's yours, it was never for me
I'm just looking for something to get me out of my seat
Something that's true, yeah What can I do?
'Cause every time I turn around I'm back down to one
Tell me why it feels like I'm still on the run
I need some good news, baby Feels like the world's gone crazy
Some good news, baby Give it to me, give it to me
I need some good news, baby 'Cause all the world's gone crazy
Some good news, baby Give it to me, give it to me
I've been holding back When I, I should be falling free, yeah
But it's not having faith Just believe in what you can't see
And I'm still looking for something to get me out of my seat
Something that's true Darling, what can I do?
'Cause every time I turn around I'm back down to one
Tell me why it feels like I'm still on the run
I need some good news, baby Feels like the world's gone crazy
Some good news, baby
Give it to me, give it to me I need some good news, baby
'Cause all the world's gone crazy Some good news, baby
Give it to me, give it to me
Give it all or give me up I won't settle for enough
It's the highs and it's the lows we remember, ooh, ooh
Give it all or give me up I won't settle for enough
It's the highs and it's the lows we remember, remember
I need some good news, baby Feels like the world's gone crazy
Some good news, baby Give it to me, give it to me
I need some good news, baby 'Cause all the world's gone crazy
Some good news, baby Give it to me, give it to me
I need some good news, baby, ooh, ooh, yeah, I need some good news,
baby Give it to me, give it to me
Give it all or give me up I won't settle for enough
It's the highs and it's the lows we remember, ooh, yeah
- I feel like the main thing I like people to take away when they meet us personally to just get off of the music for one second.
When us personally is that we're trying to create a family fan base, that's the people that we want to bring in we want it to be a family.
There's a lot of times where in the pop industry you see artists being put up on this pedestal that's unreachable, unattainable.
And we definitely are three humans who came together to make music that we thought represented our lives, and we want to make sure that the people who are coming in, everyone's invited, it's a giant party.
And we want this to just be a massive Ocean Park Standoff family.
Yeah, we're just lost in a moment Hear it starting
Right when I'm supposed to be (Right where I'm supposed to be)
Yeah, I'm just lost in a moment That I stole from a city we know never
sleeps
