Show Review

It's time to swing and sway to the scrumptious bits of rock and do wop Boston's Drug Rug pack this set from the FADER Sideshow with. While certainly rambunctious, Drug Rug also manage to come off oh so adorable…knowing Sarah Cronin is spoken for by the semi-bearded gent killing it on the guitar to the right of her has a tendency to create such anti-rock and roll images. Of course, as long as the two are together, they'll never escape it. Moving on…

What you need to know is there is loads more to this duo than their love for one and another...especially considering they plop a full band on stage with them. Together, Drug Rug lay out a rather screeching hotbed of riffs, cymbal kicks, broken piano keys, and fire siren vocals; all this and you may find yourself only one song into this performance. Later on in the set, the band cruise into more soulful territory, drawing cool-tone sax lines and sing along "sho be doo bop bops" at will. I'll admit, it can be a lot to take in. So your head doesn't explode, pick this one apart piece by piece, viewing after blessed viewing. - David Pitz
