  • THE POSTELLES ANNOUNCE RECORD RELEASE TOUR IN JUNE
Today New York Magazines "Vulture" premiered The Postelles new video, "Hold On," and announced the dates for the bands upcoming Record Release Summer US Tour, with tickets going on-sale later today. Singer Daniel Balk of The Postelles did an impromptu acoustic performance outside a gas station in Tennessee in the midst of a recent Tour. Look out for Daniel performing at a gas station near you during their tour in June! Check out the video here.

The Postelles Record Release Tour will kick off on June 7th, coinciding with the release of their self-titled debut album on +1 Records, the indie label that introduced you to The Heavy and The Morning Benders. The headlining tour will begin with a two-night stand (June 7th & 8th) at the Mercury Lounge in the bands hometown of New York City.

The record, co-produced by the band and The Strokes Albert Hammond, Jr., exudes a raw exuberance that places The Postelles in an ideological lineage that can be traced back to such 50s and early 60s icons as Buddy Holly and Sam Cooke and winds all the way through The Velvet Underground, the Ramones, Blondie and the Walkmen artists with disparate sensibilities but a common allegiance to the unabashedly unadorned rock song.

Tracks from the album have already been widely licensed. "123 Stop" has been heard in the trailer for How Do You Know, which starred Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson, while "White Night" was tapped by Foxs "Raising Hope" and the CWs "Vampire Diaries" and "90210." The video for "White Night" entered rotation at mtvU, MTV2 and Music Choice and was named "Video of the Day" by Fuse and Paper Magazine. "Sleep on the Dance Floor," The Postelles latest video, was directed by filmmaker Tracy Antonopoulos and recently premiered at NYLON Magazine. A free audio download of "Sleep on the Dance Floor" is available for a limited time at the band's website.

A pre-order for the CD is underway at Amazon.

A pre-order for the Vinyl edition is also underway, exclusively at Insound. From June 7th through July 6th, the vinyl edition of The Postelles will be available exclusively at Insound stores.

Rolling Stone has described The Postelles as "sounding like the wound-up early hours of what will be a long Saturday night on the town" while Q Magazine extolled their "sheer charm and melodies that hook their way into your synapses and refuse to let go." Entertainment Weekly praised the bands "sunny garage-bop sound" and Spin noted: "[The Postelles] serve up a hooked-at-the-gills, head-bobbing rock'n'roll groove. And nowhere is their sound as refined as on "123 Stop," the band's swaying new single."

Formed in high school, The Postelles comprising Daniel Balk (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), David Dargahi (vocals/lead guitar), John Speyer (bass) and Billy Cadden (percussion) were playing shows around Manhattan by the time they were seniors. The bands EP, also co-produced by Albert Hammond, Jr., created a buzz both Stateside and in the U.K., where influential Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe began playing the title track. They have since toured with the likes of Kings of Leon, Interpol, Free Energy, The Kills, Vampire Weekend, The Wombats and Jack Penate. In addition to playing major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo (twice) and CMJ, The Postelles performed at The Who Tribute Concert at New York Citys Carnegie Hall and even recently supported the legendary Chuck Berry.
