making noisy noise :: fiasco to drop debut LP october 14th.

Remember how in "High Fidelity", John Cusack ended up producing the album of a bunch of snot nosed, skate punks that had a fictional band called The Kinky Wizards? Probably not, but the old school music geeks in that film conceded they were "really fucking good." I guess what I'm getting at is that in recent years, I've developed this weird appreciation for teenage thrash bands that romanticize that same sort of middle-finger in the air, corporate disenchantment that goes only with being a punk-rock kid. A few months removed from the break up of Be Your Own Pet, I thought that the inherent fire of the genre was dying out, and maybe I should start listening to stuff that's more acceptable under the dull considerations of adulthood (like Sigur Ros or something). Thankfully, that youthful fire was again relit this morning (LIKE A BOMB) when I stumbled upon a bunch of noisy teenagers from Brooklyn who call themselves-- appropriately enough-- Fiasco.

The impending October 14th release of Fiasco's debut LP, Native Canadians (Impose Records) is picking up some serious hype in the music blogosphere, and for good reason. The three piece play furious little epics crammed and condensed into tiny, 2 minute time slots loaded with all the volatile decadence that a bunch of noisy teenagers can muster. With the rawness of the Dead Boys on acid, Fiasco forcefully inject artful bravado into the noise punk playing field that'll have you quitting your day job and fast balling Molotov cocktails down a brick-lined alleyway.

In the thrash-y spirit of Test Icicles (R.I.P) and Be Your Own Pet (R.I.P), Fiasco are on the cusp of exploding out the gates at exactly the right time. In a niched music void where longevity is a bad thing, expect big things from these guys in bright and brilliant flashes of youthful rebellion and reverb heavy distortion. - chris gayomali
