XNY has the kind of chemistry that makes other bands jealous. The beginning of their story takes place in Boston, in a tiny apartment complex where vocalist, Pam Autuori, would spend her time practicing and writing songs that gathered enough attention to open for Ani DiFranco, The Hush Sound, Ryan Cabrera and The Cab. Just a wall away, next door neighbor, Jacob Schreiber, would hear Pam singing and began to mimic her vocal rhythms and melodies on his drumset. What, at first, seemed like a battle of who could practice louder, ultimately turned out to be the beginning of rock duo XNY.
On the surface it is quite simple: guitar, vocals and drums. But really, they are much more than that. Breaking the boundaries of genres and somehow combining chaos and simplicity; XNY have managed to build a world larger than most ensembles plenty times their size.
Now, Brooklyn neighbors, XNY is showing no signs of slowing down. Their debut album, Through The Wall, full of mellow, complicated and catchy tunes, has garnered buzz from NYLON, Filter Magazine, AOL, Brooklyn Vegan and ARTISTdirect to name a few. They released their sophomore album, ORANGE, produced by Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls August 13th 2013. It has gathered attention from AllMusic, MTV and has recently made XNY Band Of The Week in Vogue. via Facebook
