Hailing from Asbury Park, NJ The Catching - featuring teen musicians singer/songwriter Holden Glazer (vocals, bass), Jake Farbman (guitar), Evan Hemwall (guitar) and Drew Stevens (drums) -- is a power-pop rock band drawing some inspiration from bands like Fall Out Boy, Kings Of Leon, Coldplay, Green Day, and U2. Their carefully crafted style is highlighted by a sonic palette of polished guitar hooks, Holden's rock-based vocal rasp, a driving low end coupled by a booming backbeat.
The members of The Catching first met as 10-year-olds, while performing together in local New Jersey music programs. Quickly realizing they shared amazing chemistry, and a common vision, this group of talented musicians began collaborating on writing original music. Ultimately, The Catching was formed in 2014.
The Catching recently completed the recording of their first album, "Teenage Fiction," at Nashville's famed Blackbird Studios for Ethos Records. Produced by GRAMMY-winning record producer Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, 12 Stones), their debut album captures and layers a combination of the band members' influences. Mills says, "It's refreshing to see a band work as hard as these guys do at their craft. Well beyond their teenage years, the music is fresh yet familiar, the lyrics meaningful. I see great things coming for these guys."
The album's musical styles span Alternative, Rock, Pop and other notable sounds, and includes Teenage anthem-like Pop/Rock songs such as "Seventeen" and "Ready, Set, Go," both of which will follow the path of their contemporaries such as 5 Seconds Of Summer and Catfish And The Bottlemen in the hearts and on the sound systems of fans across the globe.
Already garnering praise in the press, The Catching's "Wild Ones" debuted on Groundsounds.com who cheered, "the single is pure sonic goodness, a soaring power pop-rock delight with a message." Philly Mixtape raved, "The Catching have found a way to cook up stunning vocals, ridiculously catchy guitar hooks and a heart-pounding, drum-driven sound, all while maintaining a thriving professionalism that is setting a solid pace for them to do some truly incredible work in the music industry."
