Artist Bio

Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig first crossed paths in 2005 and began writing songs together while at school in Boston. In the summer of 2008, they moved into the Bromley House in Brooklyn, which they discovered to be a dusty, old recording studio and music school formerly called the Bromley School of Music in Brooklyn. The four-story musical fortress housed eight other musician friends and would soon open their doors to find future bandmates, Danny Molad (drummer) and Peter Lalish (guitarist), amidst their musical community.

It was with the accompaniment of the Bromley School's original 1921 Steinway piano that most of Lucius debut album, Songs From The Bromley House, was penned. Theirs is a delicate recipe of gritty and polished textures the distinction though, is in the vocals. Wolfe and Laessigs soulful harmonies of rich, playful hooks and ballad-like power meld together with a refined precision that often sounds more like one voice than two.

Lucius yet-to-be-released sophomore record, produced by Dan Molad (Elizabeth & The Catapult, Luke Temple/Here We Go Magic) and Tony Berg (Phantom Planet, Aimee Mann, Beck), is certainly a leap in a new, exciting direction. The album will be released sometime later this year.
