Artist Bio

Cold Specks is the stage name of Al Spx, the pseudonym of a Canadian singer-songwriter based in London.[1] Her musical style has been described as doom soul and shows the influence of American deep south gospel with a strong goth streak.[2] She signed with Mute Records at the beginning of 2012. Members of her band include Pete Roberts, Thomas Greene, Tom Havelock, Chris Cundy, Sarah Jones, Jim Anderson, Rob Ellis, Marley Ellis, Terry Edwards, and Ben Christophers.

Cold Specks appeared on Series 39, Episode 7, of Later with Jools Holland.[3] Her debut single "Holland" was released on October 17, 2011,[4] and she worked on tracks with producer Rob Ellis. She released her debut album, I Predict a Graceful Expulsion, on May 21, 2012, on Mute Records.
