It's safe to say that jj's newest release jj no. 3 might be one of the most insane albums of 2010. The Swedish duo's newest effort opens up with a track called "My Life" which for the most part is the refrain from rapper the GAME's song My Life until the last verse which segues into the chorus of ATC's "It Goes Around the World" (the song with the nah-nah-nah's in it).

What makes jj's Girltalk level of music mishmashery so crazy is that it's all softly and beautifully sung over pianos, violins, and dreamy synths twinkling in hush sweeps with shakers and brushed drums. jj's singer Elin Kastlander has a really incredible voice that carries the duo's lyrical zaniness into something that you can actually take seriously. And what's more than that, it's enjoyable.

jj no. 3 is the most familiar album you haven't heard yet, possibly because every song is jam packed with allusions and snippets from other songs, but it's done with such a carefree "lets just make music" attitude that it doesn't come off a bit disingenuous.

The most standout track is "Voi Parlate, Lo Gioco". It's essentially a rap lyic mad lib transformed into a beautiful love song. There's no way you can begin to figure out all the stuff singer Kastlander is referencing, but again, jj is the most familiar band you've never heard in the best way possible.

A symphonic, twangy, dreamy version of Imogen Heap covering Ja Rule is the probably the best way to explain jj, of course that sounds horrible. So try and imagine that but good. -Ryan Broderick
